Environments and variables
Run the same flow against different accounts, builds, or servers using environments.
An environment is a named set of variables and tags that you can apply to a run. Use environments to run the same flow against different accounts, builds or servers without editing the YAML.
Manage environments
- At the right of the runner bar, open the Environment menu and choose Manage Environments… (also in the Run menu). The Environments sheet opens.
- Click Create (+) to start a new environment, give the environment a Name (required) and add Environment Variables as name and value pairs. Use Add variable and Remove variable to edit the list.
- Optionally set Include Tags and Exclude Tags (comma-separated) to limit which flows run in a workspace run.
- Click Create (or Save when editing), then Done. You can also Delete an environment from the sheet. Deleting cannot be undone.
The menu lists None, each environment you made, and Manage Environments…. Until you create one, the sheet shows Create an environment with a New Environment button. You cannot switch environments while a test is running.
Use the variables in a flow
Reference a variable with ${NAME}:
yaml
- inputText: ${PASSWORD}Pick the environment before you click Run Test or Run All Tests.
Secrets stay secret
Astra Scout treats typed values and variables carefully:
- Values from environment variables are replaced with
***in anything sent to Jira. - After a step types a value taken from an environment variable, later AI steps in the same device session do not send screenshots, only a masked element tree. This applies until the app is reopened or the device reconnects.
