Answers to common questions about Astra Scout, privacy, commands, and devices.

Is Astra Scout the same as Maestro Studio?

It is a rebuild of the Maestro Studio desktop app, with the same layout and API shape. It adds real iPhone support, AI features, Jira reporting, tracking checks and purchase testing, and removes login, cloud runs and telemetry.

Does it send my data anywhere?

There is no login, cloud or telemetry. Nothing leaves your Mac except what you start: your AI CLI talking to its own provider, and a Jira bug report that you confirm. Everything sent to Jira is redacted first. See Jira.

Which commands can I use in a flow?

Maestro commands that maestro-runner supports on the connected device's platform, plus assertWithAI, assertNoDefectsWithAI and extractTextWithAI. See Supported platforms and the commands reference.

Can I test a web app?

Not yet. There is no web test backend, and the web options are hidden.

Why does the first iPhone or simulator connection take so long?

maestro-runner builds WebDriverAgent the first time, which takes about 3 to 10 minutes. Later connections reuse it.

Why is a run Blocked instead of Failed?

Blocked means the device, driver, app install, signing or AI had a problem, so nothing can be concluded about the app. Failed means a real app or flow failure. See Run flows.

Why is a run Unsure?

An AI check was not confident (below 0.6), answered in the wrong format, or assertNoDefectsWithAI had no screenshot. A person needs to review it.

Can the AI make a purchase?

Astra Scout runs against test devices, and purchase steps run like any other step, with no confirmation. Never use a real account or card. The AI never types passwords or card numbers. See Purchase testing.

Where are my videos and logs?

Flow videos are in <workspace>/artifacts/runs/. The server log is ~/Library/Logs/Astra Scout/server.log. See Run flows.

Do I need Xcode?

Yes for the iOS Simulator or a real iPhone. Not for Android only.

Which AI CLIs work?

Claude Code, OpenAI Codex and Gemini CLI, one is enough. See AI assistant.

My Personal Team iPhone setup stopped working after a week

A free Apple ID's provisioning profile lasts 7 days. Reconnect so the app signs again, or use the company team.
