Test reports and artifacts

Generate test reports, screenshots, and logs for debugging.

When a run finishes, Astra Scout gives you structured feedback and visual artifacts, such as the screen recording and screenshots. These help you debug failures and share results with your team.

What you get for each run

  • Step results. The test runner panel lists each step with its status (passed, warned, failed), and the failing step shows its error. Click View Full Log… to read the whole log, or Copy Logs to copy it.
  • A run report. Astra Scout writes a structured report for each run, as JSON and as Markdown. The reports are stored in Astra Scout's data folder under reports/ (<data>/reports/<id>.json and <id>.md), not next to the recording. It records the flow, the device, the outcome, each step, any AI checks, and crash information. The AI features use this report to explain a failure, and Fix with AI and Auto-fix start from it.
  • A screen recording. Use Show Recording on a run to watch what happened. See Record your flow.
  • Crash information. If the app under test crashes during the flow, the crash details are attached to the run.

Screenshots and recordings from your flow

The takeScreenshot and startRecording commands save files you ask for. startRecording works on Android only; on iOS, use the run recording.

yaml
- takeScreenshot: login-screen
- startRecording: checkout
# ... steps ...
- stopRecording

In Astra Scout, a relative screenshot path is saved in the run's folder, <workspace>/artifacts/runs/<run>/<flow>/, beside the run's video (see Run flows).

Custom properties

You can add custom metadata to a flow with the properties field in its header:

yaml
appId: com.example.app
name: Login Flow
properties:
    testCaseId: "TC-101"
    priority: "High"
---
- launchApp

JUnit and HTML reports are not available

Maestro can write JUnit (XML), HTML, and Allure reports with --format and --output, and properties end up in the JUnit file. Astra Scout does not offer these report formats or an output-folder setting (testOutputDir, --test-output-dir). It also has no Maestro Cloud metadata in reports.
