Record your flow

Record a flow as an MP4 video and share runs for debugging or demos.

Screen recordings make it easy to debug failures or show a journey to people who do not read YAML.

Why record your flows?

  • Debugging: see exactly where a flow fails and spot race conditions or rendering issues.
  • Collaboration: share a clear video of a bug or a user journey with developers and stakeholders.
  • Documentation: keep a visual record of your app's critical paths.

Watch a recording in Astra Scout

Astra Scout records the device screen while a flow runs, and keeps the recording with the run. In the test runner panel, use Show recording on a run to open it. The run report also points to the recording.

All recording stays on your Mac. Astra Scout does not send videos to any server.

Record part of a flow

To capture just one stretch of a flow as its own file, wrap the steps with startRecording and stopRecording:

yaml
- startRecording: checkout
- tapOn: "Pay"
- assertVisible: "Order confirmed"
- stopRecording

You can also take a still image of a specific step with takeScreenshot.

The maestro record command is not available

Maestro's maestro record and maestro record --local commands, which stitch the screen and the flow output into a shareable MP4, are part of the Maestro command line. Astra Scout has no equivalent. Use the run recording or startRecording instead.
